Why Days for Girls Matters

What if not having sanitary supplies meant DAYS without school? Days of isolation? Girls use leaves, mattress stuffing, newspaper, corn husks, rocks, anything they can find...but still miss up to 2 months of education and opportunity every year. It turns out this issue is a surprising but instrumental key to social change for women all over the world. Girls worldwide suffer indignities, infection, even exploitation trying to stay in school. Being left to solutions like these.

Days for Girls International is a grassroots 501(c)3 non-profit. Women, and girls discover their potential and self-value, are equal participants and agents of social change and are given opportunities to thrive, grow and contribute to their community's betterment while ensuring quality sustainable feminine hygiene.

Every girl in the world deserves education, safety, and dignity.We further this goal by helping girls who would otherwise go without to have access to quality sustainable feminine hygiene and awareness. We accomplish this through both direct distribution with many nonprofits, by raising awareness, by helping other organizations start their own Days for Girls programs and importantly, by helping ultra low resource communities start their own programs to supply DfG kits and training. Now we are building in-country program local production responses that empower community led health leadership, supply and economic stimulus.

It's working!

Team members sew, cut pieces, assemble kits and participate in preparing supplies to send hygiene supplies to girls and women throughout the world.  Participants are encouraged to bring their own sewing machine or serger if they are able to.  Volunteers may also cut and sew from home in between meeting days.
