One of Iowa's oldest and largest youth-serving nonprofit organizations, YSS's mission is to create hope and opportunity by putting kids first. We provide education to build healthy minds and bodies; counseling to overcome life's challenges; and stability to focus on the future. Together, YSS's programs help youth grow and empower them to reach their full potential. Headquartered in Ames, YSS has locations across the state and tailors its services to fit the needs of each community.
Education
We believe early awareness, intervention, and out-of-classroom support provide youth the tools they need to stay on the right path. YSS offers enrichment and education to prepare children to make healthy choices in the future.
Counseling
We offer counseling to help youth and families overcome obstacles and heal with compassion. Our skilled and experienced team of professionals offer a myriad of treatment approaches for mental health issues, substance use, family conflict, and more.
Stability
Youth need to feel safe and secure before they can truly focus on a brighter future. YSS offers shelter and crisis services for those who need immediate safety, and we continue providing stability through transitional living and aftercare programs. We ensure youth have a strong and constant support system throughout their entire journey.
