What We Do
Home Allies is coordinating a Mid-Winter Food Drive at two Ames grocery stores on Saturday, Feb. 11, to collect donations of food & hygiene products plus cash for several Story County Food Pantries. We need adults, students ages 14 & older and families to hand out lists of needed items at the stores & to collect cash donations: to transport grocery carts filled with donations from the store entrances to an outdoor staging area, to sort, pack & load donations for delivery and to unload at some of the pantries. Pantries requesting to participate as of this posting are MICA, Ames Community Schools, ISU SHOP, Ballard, Slater/Sheldahl, The Salvation Pantry, The Bridge Home, Loaves & Fishes and Calgary United Church. Cash donations will be given to Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance and the participating pantries to be used to buy perishable, religious and special foods.
